What is my temporary password?

If you are a new student at NMIT, you will be given a network account. To access and use the features of this account, you will first need to activate it with a temporary password.

This password is automatically generated using your student ID and initials.

Your temporary password is made up of:
[Student ID][First name (or preferred name) initial in uppercase][Last name initial in lowercase]

For example, if your name is John Smith, your temporary password would be:

  • Student ID: 12345678 → 12345678Js

If your student ID has fewer than six digits, zeros are added to the end of your student ID so that it is always six digits before your initials are added. For example:

  • Student ID: 12345 → 123450Js (one zero is added)
  • Student ID: 1234 → 123400Js (two zeros are added)

You can find your student ID on your Confirmation of Enrolment letter.
