What does a typical week look like in the programme?
We teach in blocks. Courses run for about four weeks, three days a week, from 9am to 3pm. First and second year students are in class Monday to Wednesday, and third year students are in class Wednesday to Friday.
How much independent study you'll need outside class depends on the course. Some courses are more hands-on, while others focus more on theory and classroom learning. Your days off are a good chance to work on assignments and stay on top of your studies while still keeping your weekends free.
The mix of lab, practical and field time also depends on the course, but we get out as much as we can. In one recent course, students spent eight of the twelve teaching days in the field. Some courses are more classroom focused. Over the three years you'll take on more independence.
Many of our students balance part-time work alongside their study, including students with children.
