What do I wear to graduation ?

Find out what to wear, which regalia you’ll need and how much it costs to hire.

Most NMIT graduates will need to wear regalia to cross the stage.

Your specific regalia requirements depend on your qualification. NMIT hires graduation regalia on your behalf from the Nelson Soroptimist Education Trust. Therefore, you're not just preparing for your special day - you're also supporting a great cause.

The fee for hiring your regalia goes to the Nelson Soroptimist Education Trust, which helps fund the Soroptimist Scholarship. Your contribution helps support future students and makes education more accessible for all.

NMIT requires payment by 31 October 2026 to secure your graduation regalia.

If you change your mind about attending graduation after you have paid, you will receive a full refund, provided a request to enrolments@nmit.ac.nz for a refund is received before the graduation ceremony.
