How do we use your location on our website?

To make it easier for you to find the information that's most relevant to you, our website automatically displays content based on your location.

When you first visit our website, we use your IP address to estimate which country you're accessing the site from. (Your IP address is a unique number assigned to your internet connection.) This lookup helps us determine whether to show information for domestic or international students.

How is my location determined?

When you visit our website, we perform a reverse IP lookup using a trusted third-party service to estimate your country. Based on this, we automatically select one of the following website views:

Domestic:
You'll see the domestic student view if:

  • You're accessing the website from New Zealand, and

  • You're a New Zealand or Australian citizen, or hold a New Zealand resident class visa.

International:
You'll see the international student view if you're accessing the website from outside New Zealand.

What changes based on my location?
Your selected location helps personalise the information you see across the website, including:

  • Homepage content
  • Website promotions
  • News and events
  • Available programmes and short courses
  • Study information
  • Campus locations and programme start dates
  • Fees and tuition costs
  • Application options
  • Contact information

Because some programmes are only available to certain student groups or in specific countries, you may not see every programme that NMIT offers.

How do I change my location?
You can use the location tab at the top of our website to change your location at any point.
