How do I deactivate Generative AI in Grammarly?

Learn how to turn off Generative AI features in Grammarly and find out why Grammarly EDU users at NMIT do not need to make any changes.

Grammarly is an AI-powered writing assistant that helps you write clearly, correctly, and confidently. It goes beyond basic spell-checking by offering features like whole-sentence rewrites, tone adjustment, and vocabulary enhancement.

If you are using Grammarly EDU provided by NMIT, Generative AI features are already disabled. Grammarly EDU is available as part of a support plan for students with accessibility needs, so you do not need to change any settings.

If you are using a personal Grammarly account, you can turn off Generative AI features by following these steps:

  1. Sign in to MyGrammarly.
  2. Select Account.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Select Feature customisation.
  5. Toggle Generative AI Features to Off.

After you turn this setting off, Grammarly's Generative AI features will be disabled for your account.
